Application Process:
Step 1: Schedule an initial in-person or virtual meet-up with Michael HERE
This meeting will be to determine most suitable ministry placement for intern candidate
Step 2: Fill out Intern Application HERE
Candidate can not proceed forward without application being submitted
Step 3: Interview with the director of proposed ministry placement
Step 4: If internship is offered a position, a contingent offer letter will be issued via email.
Step 5: Intern will consent to a background and reference check
Step 6: Pending background and reference checks, intern will be issued an official offer letter

Following receipt of your application, you will meet with Michael, NLI Director, for an initial screening to determine which program may be the best fit for you. An interview with the director of the specific program you are best fit for will interview you. If you have questions, please reach out to Michael at michael@odmdenver.org.

Along with their fellowship placement, NLI Fellows will be expected to participate in classroom discussion time, homework and assigned reading, mentorship, church attendance, participating in street outreach and evangelism, spiritual discipline and self-care practices, and a practicum project in the last months of program.

We require that NLI Fellows live in Open Door housing. Housing is provided at no cost. Fellows are responsible for covering the costs of food, travel, toiletries, recreational activities, etc. A stipend is included to cover some of these expenses.

2026/2027 NLI Fellowship:
Move-In: Tuesday, September 1, 2026
Graduation: Saturday, May 1, 2027
1 week off the week of Christmas
1 week off in March for Spring Break -

NLI Fellows will be expected to work 25 hours a week in their ministry placements, with an additional 15 hours of fellowship course work, groups, and community time.

- Clothing for 2-3 weeks (Both summer/winter/gym clothes)
- Tennis shoes, sandals/shower shoes, snow boots, dress shoes
- 1-2 formal outfits (to be worn at the Gala and graduation)
- 2-3 business casual outfits (for church or special events)
- Heavy winter coat, light jacket or hoodie, rain jacket
- Swimming suit
- Bedding (pillow, sheets, blanket/comforter)
- Towel, washcloth
- Toiletries/Hygiene items
- Laundry detergent (washer/dryer on site)
- laptop/ipad (let me know if you do not have one)
- Bible
- Books on the required reading booklist

Yes, as long as the timing works with your particular ministry. All vacations much be approved ahead of time by your direct supervisor and communicated to the NLI Director.

In many cases, you can receive credit for your fellowship. The NLI Director can act as a field supervisor on your behalf. We will do our best to work with the requirements of your school to make this possible. Please let us know how we can best help you.

This is determined on a case by case basis, but it may be feasible for a fellow to work a part-time job for no more than 10-15 hours a week.

This depends on the capacity of the fellow. If you are able to take a class or two without it impactiing your commitment to the fellowship, then go for it!

NLI Fellows are paid a $800/month stipend with option to support raise $3,260/month.

Typically, fellows will need to pay for their own food, gas, bus passes, car insurance, entertainment, etc. Cars are not required, but it may be expected that interns use their cars for ministry purposes if they have one. In those cases, fellows will be reimbursed for gas.

NLI fellows are required to live on the ODM block. The cost is free during the duration of your fellowship. You will share a bedroom with other fellows. You will have limited personal space, so please pack light!

As you arrive and depart, you will need to arrange transportation to and from Denver. If flying, you can fly in and out of Denver International Airport (DIA). ODM staff will do their best to provide transportation from DIA if needed. Public transportation, Uber/Lyft and other forms of transportation are available. You are also allowed to bring your own vehicle.

Nehemiah House is fully furnished with a bed, dresser and closet space. There is also a full kitchen stocked with cooking utensils, plates and silverware. Washer/Dryer in each unit at no cost.
