special state tax benefits
When you give cash gifts designated to specific ministries within Open Door, you can be eligible for significant Colorado state tax benefits.
Colorado Child Care Contribution Credit
Donations to the Open Door Learning Center qualify for this 50% state tax credit because it is a licensed facility providing care for children under age 12. No minimum donation is required. Unused credits may be carried forward five years.
Denver enterprise zone tax credit
Donations to Still Waters Housing, Street2Life Print Shop, and Open Door to Success qualify for this 25% state tax credit because they are located within the Denver Enterprise Zone and are qualified programs that provide job-skill training. A minimum donation of $250 is required to receive this credit. You must contact ODM and give us the last four digits of your SSN to receive this credit. Unused credits may be carried forward five years.
employee Matching gifts
You may be able to increase the impact of your gift to Open Door through a matching gift program through your employer. Ask your employer about their charitable matching programs to see if your gift to ODM can be doubled. See a list of some companies who do matching programs by clicking here.
There are significant tax benefits to donating appreciated stock. When you donate publicly traded stocks to ODM that have been held for more than one year you may avoid capital gains taxes. Plus, you may take the full fair market value of the gift (on the date it is transferred, rather than the amount you originally paid for it) as a charitable deduction on your income taxes. If you have questions about your stock contribution, please contact Kim Sierra: 720-975-0100, email@example.com.
DONATE YOUR CAR
Have an old car you would like to contribute to Open Door Ministries? We work with an organization called Vehicles for Charity that makes donating your car to ODM an easy process. VFC will come a pick up your car, give ODM the proceeds from the sale of the vehicle or its parts, and you will get a tax-deductible receipt for your contribution. You can begin the process by clicking here.
Give Real estate
Your property can be gifted to Open Door Ministries by signing a deed transferring ownership. The value of the gift will be based on an appraisal of the property by an independent appraiser. By gifting your property you can avoid paying capital gains taxes and receive a tax deduction for your contribution.
