The summer has brought many exciting opportunities
to ODM. For starters, we’ve had kids/youth at Horn Creek Camp
for the last three weeks. In total, about 15 have been able to go
and five high schoolers went back a second time as junior counselors.
Some are there right now. Last year, many of these same youth trusted
Christ as their Savior at camp, so we are hoping they continue to
grow in their leadership and relationship with the Lord. Still Waters
Housing (Esther, Chayah, & Treasure) is and has been full for
months now. Carol, our receptionist, says that we have gotten an
unprecedented number of calls from people needing housing in the
last couple of weeks. The other day, we had two women attend orientation
and two other calls. Many of our residents are learning about the
Lord for the first time. One of the residents is a participant in
Ezra (formerly the ArtZtudio). Ezra is seeing 10-15 street kids
each day either at the art studio (open 2-5pm M-F) or on their morning
outreaches. Our staff witnessed some violence on the street the
other day. Pray for protection for our staff and those with whom
we work.
Our
finances were quite low at the end of June for the first time in
a while. It would be a great time to make a “mid-year”
gift as God leads. This can be done at our website (www.odmdenver.org)
or to Open Door Ministries, PO Box 18018, Denver, CO 80218. Thanks
for your prayers, support, volunteerism, and encouragement.
In
Christ,
