E.A.T.
E.A.T. stands for Eating All Together.
Each Sunday after the worship service at Open Door
Fellowship, a free meal is served promoting evangelism and
fellowship. It is open to all in the
church and community. The goal is for this meal to be purchased,
prepared, and served by
volunteer groups from all around the Denver Metro area and
beyond.
How does E.A.T. work?
Each week, church groups like yours come to cook and serve
a meal to people from either Open
Door Fellowship Church and the surrounding community. Your
group will get to be a part of
missions first hand, and your ministry allows
people at Open Door to develop the relationships
necessary for effective evangelism and ministry in the neighborhood.
Why E.A.T.?
E.A.T. has 3 purposes:
1. Provide a nutritious meal to people in need.
2. Fellowship - development of relationships between
church people and community people.
3. Evangelism - through relationships and presentations.
Can I do E.A.T.?
Groups that might want to minister at E.A.T. are Sunday School
classes (kids as young as 4th
grade -- with a little extra adult help -- can do E.A.T.!),
small groups, adult Bible study groups,
men's groups, women's groups, youth groups, the church choir
or worship team, church staff,
Sunday School teachers, elder boards, deacon boards, missions
committees, singles groups,
groups of friends, individual families ... Anyone
can do E.A.T.!
What do I have to do?
1. Select the Menu: At E.A.T. we serve 100
servings each week. When you select the menu,
be creative but keep it simple so the process won't be a burden
to you. Plan on an entrée with
some bread item, vegetable or fruit, a simple dessert, and
a beverage (we recommend milk).
2. Obtain Food: We ask our groups to purchase
the food and paper products -- cups,
plates / plastic utensils -- needed for the meal they are
serving.
3. Preparing and Serving the Food: It is
a good idea to prepare most of the food ahead of
time so that very little has to be done at the church. Open
Door Fellowship has a full kitchen
available, but it is probably a better idea to prepare what
you can ahead of time.
4. Clean Up: Wash tables, sweep and mop.
We would love to have you minister with us, as we "Seek
the wholeness of the city" (Jer 29:7)
where God has sent us.
E.A.T. is served every Sunday night at 7:00 p.m. at Open
Door Fellowship following worship
services. Open Door meets in the same building at 1567 Marion
Street.
